Artaire Hans Luon (or just Artaire) was the second King of Lunaris, adopted son of King Hans Luon (SubToMoonDanker) and father of Empress Amaranthine Luon.

Early life[]

Artaire was born in what is today called Nox Aeterna to a poor family of fishermen. He grew up learning all the secrets of fishing, and so he grew to become one of the best fishermen Lunaris had ever seen, even catching the intention of King Hans. This all culminated when Artaire caught one Mending book of enchanting, which were quite a prized possession especially to a relatively new kingdom like Lunaris. Artaire received much praise for this and his famed fishing rod is now on display in the Royal Museum. Artaire then found out about how lucrative gold mining is and tried out the miner profession. Unfortunately he did not grow rich from this endeavour, but he did acquire a full set of shining diamond armor.

Soon, Lunaris was on the path of war to help it's great ally, Volturus. King Hans ordered the mass production of enchanted armor and weaponry, and Artaire delivered. He was ready for his first war, ready to show the glory of The Crown in battle. He travelled far with his fellow soldiers and arrived to the scene of battle. Artaire had not witnessed such a sight in his entire life, countless soldiers lined up on the sandy walls of New Volotra.

Unfortunately for Artaire and the rest of Lunaris, they were slaughtered within minutes. Artaire lost most of his gear in the chaos and even the King's gear he managed to recover. That loss demoralised him and he slowly moved away from fishing and mining into more artistic ventures.

Second in Command[]

Artaire through time grew closer to The King and showed himself to be very helpful, so The King proclaimed him one of His Second in Commands. As a Second in Command Artaire helped bring many reforms and additions to the governance and way of life of The Kingdom.

He helped FrxddyBarnes organise the first elections in Lunarian history and define the Ministries and their domains. Artaire also had intentions to create a constitution but his intentions never came to fruit not even during his rule as king.

He helped Archpriest Bunion Sil Wex organise the Moonsinger Pantheon structure and helped him spread the word of Munas through written books and religious societies. Artaire was even at a young age infatuated by the Archpriest's words as he saw them holding many truths that could guide the populace towards a better future. Artaire saw himself belonging in the Church of Celmador, Patron Diety of Smithery and Masonry.

What he in his life claimed to be most proud of was the vision of Nox Aeterna he shared with Noxelr and other esteemed architects. Arguably the greatest work of his life was the construction of what used to be called "The Temple of Munas Moonsinger" (now called "The Sanctum Speculum Grand Temple"). He was also among the people who contributed resources towards the construction of the city walls.

During this period of life, he personally fought his last battle in the Skittle Alliance versus Plagatéa war, but seeing as the war was over before the battle even began, the battle itself was uneventful. Artaire found that after this war, everything seemed to go downhill. Morale was at an all time lowest, The King was taking more and more breaks due to personal issues that weren't disclosed to the Lunarian public. The second election date passed without new elections and the previous government was nowhere to be found.

One of the last things he did as Second in Command was contact one of the original citizens of a long gone country named Voodin and with his enormous help establish Lunaris' New Voodin colony in Eldham.

Artaire and the rest of Lunaris' high council found the body of King Hans washed ashore, no signs of murder. The Lunarian public was told He died in a fishing accident. Even as the King's spirit stayed to offer advice and support Artaire's ascension to the throne and adopt him as His own, He did not disclose the cause of His own death. Even then, as the most diligent in the council, the choice was clear: Artaire was to be King of Lunaris.

King of Lunaris[]

His coronation was delayed to a later date due to many reasons, including the still recent memory of the former King and the fact that Artaire had much more important things to do.

In his drive to revive the government he met many competent people such as Ardamovic, Hell, Alpharius, and an ambitious young lady who would come to change the history of Lunaris forever, Amy. Artaire was overjoyed to see the country once on the brink of irrelevancy and being forgotten on it's legs once again, active in all ways it could. New pacts were being signed, trade was being conducted, money was being made and the treasury was now for the first time in many years growing. New architects, lawmakers, artisans, artists. In his eyes, it was all a miracle granted to him by perhaps Munas himself.

Arguably, the high point of his reign was his coronation held in The Temple. Dozens of guests arrived at the magnificent temple, hailing from all sides of the world. Notably, Plagatéan representatives (who were at the time protectors of Lunaris) and representatives from the Lunar City-State of Ligral, who had become great friends with Amy. Artaire did not prepare a speech, he apparently spoke from his heart and in his words "Munas led me". Artaire got many gifts from the guests, some of them can be found on display in the Museum. Even Amy who Artaire later during the day adopted as his own daughter brought gifts, a netherite "Blade of Lunaris" and a "Pickaxe of The King". After the ceremony Artaire invited the guests to come and fish with him on the docks of Nox Aeterna. There was unfortunately even an incident and some controversies regarding Amy and some of the guests.

Amy's friendship with Ligral and adopted Asitir faith caused a long lasting point of contention between her and Artaire over the official faith of Lunaris, more specifically the name of The Temple. They later came to an agreement to name it something neutral regardless of religion.

Unfortunately for Artaire, his ambitions and dreams were being cut short and ever shorter by a serious heart condition he had developed. He was forced to leave many of the functions to his closest friends, up to a point where his only function was to give the go ahead to other people's plans and sign documents if his signature was needed.

The End[]

The straw that broke the camel's back was a poll conducted by the King's council to rename the country's capital which was until then named just Lunaris. Overwhelming support was given to the new name being Nox Aeterna, which the King himself did not support, he liked some other option better. The poll was closed and Artaire refused to accept the name chosen, claiming that Lunaris was not in fact a democracy. This was quite unpopular and dissent grew until The King's capabilities were up to scrutiny. What was a joke coup among friends grew into a genuine appeal for King Artaire to step down.

"At first I was shocked that they would suggest such a thing, but after some thinking I realised that they want what's best for Lunaris, and that I want what's best for Lunaris. What could be better than for it to be ruled by a diligent, healthy, smart individual, such as my daughter Amaranthine? It is true that i missed being a King and all the prestige that the title brings but it is also true that I was very tired of it. Being a King is a lot of work and my failing health simply doesn't allow that. I wish for Amy and the rest my council the best of luck in the future, I couldn't be more happier that Lunaris is now going to be lead by very competent people." - Interview with Artaire circa 117 SMP

Artaire abdicated the throne in favour of Amaranthine Luon in 115 SMP. He had lived an another 4 years afterwards, until he succumbed to a heart attack. His remains are hidden until the Luon family crypt is finally built. It is said that his spirit still roams the streets of Nox Aeterna admiring it's expansion.
