Origin[]
Baikulo, meaning "Home to the people" in Baika, is a town built on a pair of connected Islands off the coasts of Ummarnu and Alteniquia. Baikulo was founded by Meidi Bal after he was ousted from his second estate by the occupation of Qued by Aljazair. Set forth as a place for the few and desperate Bai people to gather and live by Meidi Bal, Baikulo has a grown as a beacon towards the scattered Bai people.
Terraforming[]
The island of Baikulo was naturally hilly, making it difficult to build upon for early settlers. These early settlers began to practice mass terraforming to make the landscape more suitable to the nature of their architecture. Thus began the Baikuli practice of digging an island down to or below sea level. A few minor islands to the east were also subject to such terraforming, resulting in two now lying beneath the sea and one a flat patch of earth just barely above sea level. These unnamed islands, stripped of their resources that would serve as the building blocks for the architecture that decorates the island of Baikulo, act as natural outposts for the island's defense.
History[]
Baikulo, founded on May 9th, 2021 (1 FOB), was founded as a isolated and defensible farmhouse by Meidi Bal before a beach wall was built surrounding the island to protect from outsiders. As the island's population grew so to did the need for more infrastructure. Player Solphyre would go on to be the architect for a majority of the islands infrastructure including but not limited to: The bridge, the tower, and the Baikulo Convention Center.
As of May 15, 2021 Baikulo is a vassal state of Kush. While a vassal of Kush, it would expand its borders and develop the surrounding islands claimed by Kush, Establishing the towns of Ktieb-Kulo(Formerly Bai-Kali), founded by Hydr0Pho3nix, and Gelzaari, founded by SoundScheme.
On May 26th, 2021 the Battle of Baikulo occured. This defeat encouraged the Bai citizens to immigrate to the newly discovered world of Eldham. Before leaving, they transferred ownership of their home to Kush, rather then letting it become abandoned. In Bai culture, Baikulo is still seen as the closest thing to an ancestral home, given the destruction of Jagdas. Bai occasionally make return pilgrimages to pay homage to the site.
New leadership[]
In and around late August player Snorlaxboss129 a.k.a. Snorlax Obaduni seized the opportunity to become the new governor of Baikulo. Snorlax so far during his governance has built an ice highway system to lower travel times between the two islands. Snorlax noticed as well the lack of residential spaces for citizens, hence he ended up building a new residential district as an "extention" for Ktieb-Kulo.
