The Commonwealth of Ryzani Crowns (also known as the Commonwealth, or Ryzan), was the immediate successor state to the Ryzan Confederation. It was made up of most of all of the former Ryzani states, with the principle among them being Volkore, Remtal, and Nebskoslava. The Commonwealth would slowly become more dominated by Volkore, and would be plagued by internal disputes between Volkore and Nebskoslava.
Founding and Government[]
The Commonwealth would begin with three states, Nebskoslava, Remtal and Vologda forming an alliance to continue Ryzan. Eventually, most of the other former states were added to this, in an event called the Reformation.
The Commonwealth would be headed by a council, called the Council of Ryzan. The positions were as follows:
Head Representative (TheBurger3 of Volkore) was the effective "Leader" of the nation, and was a permanent title earned through a council election.
The High Diplomat (TheBurger3 of Volkore) was the person in charge of conducting all diplomacy between the Commonwealth and foreign nations.
The Magister Equitum (GreenToss of Nova Balreska) was the supreme commander of the militaries of Ryzan, so named as the army would be a cavalry-based raiding force.
The Lord Chamberlain (Count Donklas Tise of Remtal) was the person in charge of settling disputes between the countries.
The Master of Merchants (Thinker of Volkore) was in charge of both selling items to other countries, as well as gathering supplies and resources for campaigns.
The Master of Bridges (R3Dskyblusky of Nebskoslavia) was in charge of building and maintaining infrastructure between towns and states, and deterring bandits who appeared on the roads.
The Great Dispute[]
The Great Dispute arose nearly immediately after the Commonwealth's foundation. Between the Nebskii and Volkore, it was centered around the fact that the Nebskii had constructed their capital, Nebskogrod, on what was claimed to be Volkore's side of the River Running. Both sides had an equal claim to the land, as the Nebskii had settled at the spot the same day that Volkore had purchased the land from the Tsar of the previous government, and so they began to argue.
King Nebsk's claim of territory (Yellow), overlapping Volkore's (Cyan) and Erebor's (Red) territory, within Ryzan (Black). Under this, King Nebsk would personally control 10% of the Commonwealth's land.
The first attempt to solve the issue started immediately, when the Lord Chamberlain declared that they have joint administration of the territory. This settled the arguement for about some hours, with neither side happy. Tensions snapped when King Nebsk released a map covering "unfairly huge swaths of land", and land of other states, which sparked Volkore to reform into the "Volkore Empire" and invite Bjorynskull to be their dependency. A massive investigation was underheld to find who owned the land first.
Many further attempts to solve the problem had been made in the next few weeks. Most were proposed by Volkore to persuade King Nebsk to become a dependency of Volkore, such as awarding lots of land and gold blocks, but the King never stood down from his claims. Weeks of this would ruin Volkore-Nebsk relations.
The End of the Commonwealth[]
Though the commonwealth has never been officially declared dead, it effectively ended on the January 10th, 2021, when Emperor Thinker of Volkore was pronounced dead. The newly crowned Emperor Athos urged Head Representative TheBurger3 to crack down on Nebskoslavia's unfairness, so the Head Representative proposed "After weeks of ignoring Official Ryzani Borders, King Nebsk of Nebskoslavia officially has 2 days to add a key to his map showing the true Jurisdictional border between Volkore and Nebskoslavia, or will face becoming a Dependency of Volkore under the Volkore Kingdoms Act.". This sparked debate over the fairness of the Volkore Kingdoms Act of December 14th, 2020 and it was seen as an attempt by Volkore to consolidate their power over the other states, although critics appraised Volkore for "Defining the rights of their subjects that previously did not exist", and counterargued that "[The Act itself] is not forcing anyone to do anything, except for what [Volkore] already owns". Immediately upon reading the proposition, Nebskoslavia declared their independence from the Commonwealth. The other states, whom had become wary of Volkore, signed the Joint Declaration, colloquially known as the "Remtal took the Kids" event. These nations would reform into the Freeholds of Westreach, excluding the Volkore Empire.
